Giving Thanks

After my last post, I started thinking “Why does Canada observe Thanksgiving on a different day then USA?” So I Googled it and found a quite simple answer. If you already knew the answer, good for you. There’s no such thing as a dumb question

Without breaking out into a history lesson, the reason it is earlier is that Canada is north of the United States and because of this, the harvest season is earlier during the year. So, Canadians celebrate during fall and harvest time

See…simple

WARNING: HISTORY AHEAD

The first ever American Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Pilgrims to give thanks to God for guiding them safely to the New World. This occurred in 1621 at the Plymouth Plantation

The first Canadian Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1578 when Martin Frobisher, an explorer from England, arrived in Newfoundland. He wanted to give thanks for his safe arrival

Canada held its Thanksgiving before the USA. Just saying
