It Happened On #82

Only 1 week left until Christmas, better hit the stores to get all your shopping done. I heard that there’s only a 30% chance we’ll have a white Christmas. Kinda sucks, but better than 0%

It happened on December 18 1865…the U.S. House of Representatives passes the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, abolishing slavery in America. The amendment read, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude…shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction”

Also on December 18 1965, as part of the Tet Offensive, a squad of Viet Cong guerillas attacks the U.S. Embassy in Saigon. The soldiers seized the embassy and held it for six hours until an assault force of U.S. paratroopers landed by helicopter on the building’s roof and routed the Viet Cong

Meanwhile, in Canada, on December 18 1992, Air Canada President Hollis Harris says airline will post record loss of $300 m in 1992 and will cut staff by 2,000 people
