I haven’t posted in a while, mainly because I decided to take a break from my daily exercises. I still work out, just not on the treadmill or elliptical so I can’t really keep track of calories burned. Weird thing is, I have more of an appetite now than I did when I was working out on the machines. Go figure
Anyway, I’ve been keeping busy by playing video games, reading and cycling my aquarium – no, that doesn’t mean I’m using my aquarium as a bicycle
I finished The Walking Dead game and liked it a lot. It was like one of those “choose your own adventure” books. You know, the “turn to page X for yes and page Z for no” type books. The game made you choose what to do or say in a specific situation. I want to play it again, be a jerk, let people die, and see how it affects the game. But that will have to wait because I’m playing Ghost Recon Future Solider right now. It’s a shooter game and I like it. I’m on the last mission but having some difficulties. You have to chase some bad guy while a truck load of people are shooting at you. I keep dying while my teammates seem to be taking a break for tea time
I’m also trying to read 12 books this year and have read 5. I’m currently reading Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. It’s a memoir but I haven’t heard of this women before. I read some good reviews about it so I decided to read it
I’ve had this aquarium for about 2-3 months and still have no aquatic friends. To make a long story short, you have to grow beneficial bacteria in the tank to make it suitable for fish (the process is called cycling). You can add fish and do a fish-in cycle but I think that’s inhumane because you’re basically subjecting a living creature to a toxic environment and not expecting it to survive. Not cool. This is why I chose to do a fishless cycle. It can take longer but at least there are no deaths. It”s been 3 weeks now and I still have none of this beneficial bacteria. I was under the impression that the bacteria would grow within 10 days but have learned it may take longer, so I’ll wait. It’s difficult to see an empty tank every day
I heard The Walking Dead comics were great and much different than the show, so I got 1 to 90 yesterday. So far I’ve only read 1 to 3 and it’s not too bad but I think I like the show better. The comics are black and white, so it took a little getting used to. Just reading 3 comics made me realiize the TV show follows the comic series is some cases but diverges in others. Makes for an interesting read
I also think I’ll give the PS3 game another shot
Last night I was on the video game website IGN.com looking at new PS3 games and I came across Zombie U. I watched the review and it seemed pretty good. It also got a good review. The game basically consist of surviving a post apocalyptic zombie attack
Much to my chagrin, it’s only available for the Nintendo Wii U. I’ve heard about the Wii U Point of all this? I want it! Just for Zombie U! *hinit* Christmas is fast approaching *hint*but didn’t really know much about it. Having no life and nothing better to do, I did a little research. It’s basically a hand held console (it’s actually more than just that, but I don’t need to go into full detail). It’ll be out November 18 and will cost $299.99 or $349.99 depending on the version
Also while on the site, I found out they are making another Walking Dead game titled The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. It’s pinned as a do whatever you need to survive first person action game. The game puts players in the role of the crossbow-wielding Daryl Dixon, alongside his brother Merle, on a quest across the Georgia countryside to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta. It’s coming out sometime in 2013
Went on a little fall drive this past weekend with my sister and now I will share some pictures I took. Pictures are not that great because they were taken from inside the car and the windows were filthy. You can blame my sister for not cleaning the windows. It was her car
This is when the annual drive just started. The excitement was building even more so as we took the on-ramp to the highway (2nd picture). The 3rd picture is of the highway and off to the left is a part of Kelso Park. The cliff you see is the Niagara Escarpment
We stopped and got out just after the lights at Cambellville Pond. This picture is supposed to show all the motorcyclists congregated at the gas station. The 2nd picture is of the Pond. The 3rd and 4th pictures are just random shots of the area. We didn’t sit in the gazebo
A random field. Wish I could run around and frolic in it
A winding, steep, narrow road. It was especially narrow around the bends. Only one car could get through as a time. I remember almost killing myself because I was in the wrong gear trying to go up back in my motorcycling days. Fun
A nice Porsche I took a picture of
Some person’s house. They obviously like Halloween
A barn I wanted to go into to make sure the farmer wasn’t hiding zombies in (people who watch The Walking Dead will understand). Is it still considered a barn even if it’s not red?
That’s it. We drove around, saw trees, got lost, and bought apple pie. What else do you want?
P.S- I’m aware the formatting is a little wonky. I’ll try and fix it later
I was with a small group (about 3-4 people) running to a mall. Once we got in, people started coming from everywhere and attacking us. My group left to find cover, and I was left alone. I had a baseball bat in my hands and began swinging it at their heads. That’s all I remember
That’s all I remember from my dream. I assume the people attacking me were zombies or “walkers”. Should probably stop watching The Walking Dead. It wasn’t really a nightmare – more like a startling dream
Once breakfast was consumed, I thought “Why can’t I remember my dream?”. Like the nerd I am, I looked it up
According to Scientific America, everyone dreams at least 5 times a night. Some have little or no memory of their dreams
Now for why we can’t remember them, which is really an unknown. Dreams are a result of your synapses firing randomly and then getting filtered and processed. It is very different from the process of observation that leads to storage in long term memory
Basically, when you sleep, your brain cycles through everything you’ve experienced and thought about randomly. Your brain knows that these things aren’t real and meaningful, and so doesn’t bother to store them
There are a lot more theories on this subject but I just picked one
So I took a couple minutes out of my busy schedule and revamped my blog to be more Halloween-ish
I made a new header, and since currently I’m into The Walking Dead, I tried to stick with the zombie theme. I also had to use orange because that’s the Halloween colour. I don’t really like it in the header but what you gonna do?
Enjoy the Halloween theme while I eat chocolate that we’re supposed to hand out
I got my Heart & Stroke calendar in the mail today. 2013 better be a prosperous year for me. If anything, with daily, weekly, and monthly draws, it’ll keep me busy. Zombies
Since you mentioned zombies, I’m not done watching The Walking Dead. I have about 7 episodes left until I’m caught up. I decided to ration the remaining episodes until Sunday when the new episode airs
My apologies for the tardiness of this post. I was busy helping a friend with some Photoshop stuff and it pushed my whole schedule back
Fret not because here’s another It Happened On
It happened on October 17 1931…Gangster Al Capone was sentenced to 11 years in prison for tax evasion and fined $80,000. Capone was expelled from school at 14, joined a gang and earned his nickname “Scarface” after being sliced across the cheek. Capone was at the top of the F.B.I.’s “Most Wanted” list by 1930, but he avoided long stints in jail by bribing city officials, intimidating witnesses and maintaining various hideouts
Also on October 17 1972, Marshall Bruce Mathers III, aka Slim Shady, aka Eminem was born. He’s 40 today
Once again, sorry for the tardiness. Back to watching The Walking Dead….
I watched season 1 of The Walking Dead yesterday and WOW! I loved it and can’t wait to watch season 2
The acting, writing, and directing are superb. There were many times when I thought “OMG!! How are they gonna get out of this?!?” I never say OMG. I don’t swear much either but this show is f***ing amazing!
Anyway, I’m going to get started on season 2 so my posts for the next few days are going to suffer in quality and quantity. Sorry
My butt’s going to be sore from all the sitting
Gather around kids, it’s story time!
Well not really. It’s time for another edition of It Happened On. It’s a special edition because it has a picture. Wow
It happened on October 16 1958…Chevrolet began selling a car-truck hybrid, the El Camino. Chevy discontinued it after just two years. In 1968, the more powerful SS engine made the El Camino into one of the iconic muscle cars of the late ‘60s and ‘70s
Also on October 16 1793, Marie-Antoinette is beheaded. She allegedly responded to news that the French peasantry had no bread to eat by replying “Let them eat cake.”
Also on October 16 2011, the second season of The Walking Dead aired
I remember the McCain Deep n’ Delicious cake commercial where Marie-Antoinette said “Let them eat cake.”
